HARBOUR AND OFF-SHORE PREVENTION & PROTECTION SOLUTIONS

Grow and risk are virtually synonymous. Countries, companies and human beings want to grow. In terms of risks, the readiness is all.

In that sense, the 2012 SYMHAZARD Symposium, organized by the Pan American Institute of Naval Engineering, it is oriented towards the prevention of operating risks that have the port and off-shore activities, either at national or regional level.

How prevent and ultimately fight fires on vessels in port? And ammonia leaks? Where to locate safely a regasification plant? Dangers lurk in the exploration and exploitation off-shore? Are passenger ships reliable? How should the port authorities to act? What is the role of the insurance companies? And of the maritime agencies? Where to watch in search of best practices in the shipbuilding industry? Is there an adequate legal framework to prevent and deal with sea or inland waterway accidents? We react to fear or to reality?

These and other questions will be addressed by the actors themselves and by renowned specialists at the international level, within the framework of an intense activity to be developed in Montevideo between 31 October and 1 November of this year.

Maritime authorities of the region, classification societies and insurance companies, shipyards and suppliers, specialists in fire-fighting and the handling of crisis, study centres and agents, shipowners and oil companies and national maritime authorities, all of them, will present their points of view, will measure the impact of their proposals, listen carefully the different bells, and will have a safer idea of what can happen..
